Mission:
To develop strategies, standards, and requirements for an enhanced SHIN-NY that leverages shared services and standardized regional services to enable broad adoption and use of interoperable HIE tools among providers and consumers across NY State while protecting privacy and security.
Objectives:
- Develop updated SHIN-NY policy and architecture specifications that support statewide interoperable HIE.
- Develop strategies for effective utilization of statewide HIE shared and standardized regional services related to clinical care and meaningful use.
- Develop strategies and recommendations for standardized EHR-HIE interoperability.
Prioritized Projects for 2011 by sub-work group:
EMPI:
- Establish the agreed upon set of data elements
- Establish the minimum data set that an application must support
- Determine the messaging protocols that will be used to facilitate exchange of data between RHIOs
EHR/HIE Interoperability
- Define technical specifications, messaging protocols, and message requirements for interoperabilty
Due to the close nature of the materials and content to be covered, the EHR/HIE Interoperability and EMPI subgroups have been merged. The EMPI subrgroup will be the prominent name and schedule to follow. The SCP Work Group Calendar reflects these changes.
