    Mission:

    To develop policies and strategies that reflect a clinical perspective designed to support and maximize provider engagement and adoption of health information technology (HIT) and health information exchange (HIE) across NY State. 

     

    Objectives:

    • Maximize provider engagement and the adoption of health IT and HIE by ensuring that SHIN-NY provides services with the highest clinical value.
    • Provide clinical input to the work of SCP Work Groups including the Public Health WG use case development for the public health reporting and the EHR Implementation WG specific to clinical work flow elements of provider tools under development.
    • Provide subject matter expert opinion/position statements as required and solicited on federal HIT/HIE initiatives.
    • Identify quality measures that serve as evidence-based indicators of patient experience/quality of care and cost efficiency and develop strategies for duplication across projects and stakeholders in NY State.
    • Promote implementation of Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH).

     

    Prioritized Projects for 2011:

    • Review and prioritize SHIN-NY connected capabilities based on highest clinical value.
    • Review SHIN-NY functional specifications as they become available providing clinical perspective.
    • Review and provide input on Universal Public Health Node (UPHN) use cases for public health reporting as they become available.
    • Review and provide input on provider tools developed by the EHR Implementation WG specific to clinical workflow as they become available.
    • Identify PCMH lessons learned and successful strategies on implementation
    • Identify quality measures that might be replicated across projects and stakeholders
    • Provide clinical subject matter expertise opinions and/or position statements on federal HIT/HIE initiatives as needed. 

     

    Work Group Meetings will take place the first Monday of each month from 1-3pm EST.
